Vera Miscu

Vera Miscu is an Associate Professor and Coordinating Scientific Researcher at the Institute of Microbiology and Biotechnology affiliated with the Technical University of Moldova. She leads research in the Ficobiotechnology Laboratory focusing on biotechnology applications with cyanobacteria and microalgae.

Her research interests include:

• Active principles from cyanobacteria and microalgae
• New multifunctional preparations based on these principles
• Models of heavy metal accumulation by cyanobacteria and microalgae
• Nanoparticle synthesis and toxicity assessment using cyanobacteria and microalgae
• Directed synthesis models and production technologies
• Antioxidant properties of microalgae, particularly Spirulina platensis

Dr. Miscu has published 67 publications including 1 SPRINGER monograph chapter, 2 ISI/SCOPUS journal articles, 16 national accredited journal articles, 31 conference theses, and 17 patents. Her research demonstrates consistent focus on antioxidant properties of microalgae, examining how cultivation conditions, light exposure, and metal complexes affect biochemical composition.

She has participated as an executor in numerous research projects from 2006-2019 covering oxidative stress in spirulina biomass, silver nanoparticle technologies, mechanisms of oxidative status modification, and industrial production of innovative preparations.
