Elena Shevchenko is a Part-time Professor at Argonne National Laboratory, affiliated with the Physical Sciences and Engineering organization and the Center for Nanoscale Materials in Lemont, Illinois.
Her educational background includes a Ph.D. from the University of Hamburg.
Her research centers on advanced nanomaterials development, with primary focus areas:
- Synthesis of magnetic, semiconductor, and metallic oxide nanoparticles with precisely controlled size and shape
- Design of complex nanoscale architectures including core-shell structures and dumbbell nanoparticles
- Engineering multifunctional materials through directed nanoparticle self-assembly
- Investigation of emergent collective properties in nanoparticle assemblies
Her scholarly interests span Catalysis, Inorganic Chemistry, Materials Chemistry, and Physical Chemistry, with particular emphasis on nanoparticle applications in energy and materials science.
