Vera Baier

Vera Maria Baier is a doctoral researcher at the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research − UFZ in the Department of Economics. Her work focuses on

• Multifunctionality and biodiversity in agricultural landscapes
• Economic valuation of ecosystem services
• Agroecology and agroforestry

She is currently affiliated with the research training group ECO-N (Economics of Connected Natural Commons) since 2024 and previously worked on sustainability initiatives in regenerative coffee production in Brazil (2023–2024). Her academic background includes a Master's in Nature Conservation and Environmental Management (University of the Azores, Portugal, 2019–2022) and a Diploma in International Economics and Business Studies (University of Innsbruck, 2012–2017).

Her research intersects economic systems with environmental sustainability, particularly in agricultural ecosystems. At UFZ, she contributes to understanding socio-economic frameworks for sustainable resource management and policy development.
