Venetia Lyles

Dr. Venetia Lyles is an Associate Professor of Chemistry and Director of the Savannah River Environmental Sciences Field Station at South Carolina State University (SCSU), Orangeburg, SC. She also serves as Program Coordinator for the Chemistry Program. Her roles emphasize integrating technology into education and advancing environmental science initiatives. She previously served as an adjunct professor at SCSU.

• Ph.D. Analytical Chemistry, Louisiana State University (2013)

Research & Interests: Focuses on environmental science, analytical chemistry, and leveraging technology to enhance teaching and learning. Her doctoral work investigated organic molecules' chemical/electronic properties using scanning probe techniques.

Awards: 2022-23 SCSU Professor of the Year.

Key Contributions: Leads the nation’s only HBCU-based undergraduate environmental science field station, promoting STEM accessibility. Coordinates chemistry courses like C150, C151, and C408. Active in professional organizations including Alpha Kappa Alpha and Tau Beta Sigma.
