Veneta Zlatinova

Dr. Veneta Zlatinova serves as a Senior Assistant Professor at the Department of Urban Planning within the Faculty of Architecture at the University of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy (UACEG) in Sofia, Bulgaria. She holds a Doctorate in Territorial and Landscape Planning and Urban Planning from UACEG (2016) and a Master's degree in Architecture from the same institution (2004).

Her research expertise spans urban morphology, urban design, place making, digitization in urban planning, housing policy, informal settlements, nature-based solutions, and circular economy approaches in the built environment. Her work examines the transformation of residential areas in Bulgarian cities with particular attention to social dimensions, public space quality, and sustainable urban development approaches. She has contributed to significant EU-funded research projects including URBiNAT (Horizon 2020, 2018-2023) focused on regenerating unattractive urban areas through nature-based solutions, and EUMYPRO (Erasmus+, 2017-2020) exploring European dimensions in architectural education.

Her recent publications (2021-2024) demonstrate a consistent focus on green infrastructure transformations, regenerative neighborhood approaches, and the intersection of urban form with social equity. These works appear in international conference proceedings and edited volumes examining European middle-class mass housing, urban morphology, and nature-based urban regeneration strategies.

Dr. Zlatinova teaches courses in Urban Planning, Park and Landscape Architecture, Urbanism, and Professional Ethics for Architecture, Urbanism, and Landscape Architecture majors. She mentors student workshops including the National Concert Hall project (2018) and multiple International Student Workshops focused on place making and urban public space activation. Her professional development includes specialized training in academic teaching methodology, research proposal development, and World Bank Group courses on urban upgrading, future of work, and financing for development.
