Veikko Linko serves as a Visiting Professor in the Department of Bioproducts and Biosystems at Aalto University's School of Chemical Engineering, specializing in Biohybrid Materials. With a doctoral degree in Natural Sciences from the University of Jyväskylä (awarded May 16, 2011), he has established himself as a leading researcher in DNA nanotechnology and biohybrid materials.
Dr. Linko's research focuses on DNA origami and nucleic acid nanotechnology, with particular emphasis on developing molecular devices for biomedical applications. His work spans drug delivery systems, biosensors, and viral vector engineering, with significant contributions to understanding nanostructure stability in physiological environments. He has pioneered approaches for protein coating of DNA origami, electrostatic assembly of hybrid nanomaterials, and the development of DNA-based nanocarriers for targeted drug delivery, particularly in ocular and cancer therapeutics.
His publication record demonstrates a clear trajectory from fundamental nanomaterial research toward increasingly sophisticated biomedical applications. Recent work shows a strong focus on translating DNA nanotechnology into practical medical solutions, with particular attention to drug delivery systems, biosensor enhancement, and viral vector engineering for gene therapy applications.
