Vegard Aune

Vegard Aune is an Associate Professor at the Department of Structural Engineering, Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU). His research focuses on understanding material and structural responses to impact and extreme loading conditions, with particular emphasis on fluid-structure interactions during high-intensity surface pressures. His work combines experimental, theoretical, and numerical methods to predict and control how civil engineering structures respond to extreme environments.

Research interests include the development of new experimental methods for studying blast-loaded structures, dynamic response analysis of metallic plates, and fluid-structure interaction phenomena. His investigations aim to enhance fundamental understanding of deformation mechanisms under explosive loads.

Professor Aune maintains the SIMLab shock tube facility and has developed specialized equipment for blast testing. His research has practical applications in improving structural safety and resilience against extreme events.
