Veena Rao, PhD is a Research Scientist in the Department of Cardiovascular Medicine at Yale School of Medicine. Her work focuses on understanding the cardiorenal interactions in heart failure, particularly mechanisms of diuretic resistance and sodium handling. She leads investigations into novel therapies like direct sodium removal systems and urine-guided diuretic strategies. Rao has contributed to over 70 peer-reviewed publications, with recent work appearing in Journal of Cardiac Failure and Heart Failure Reviews. She earned her PhD from the National University of Singapore (2003) and has collaborated extensively with clinicians and researchers globally. Her research integrates clinical trials with biomarker discovery, aiming to improve outcomes for patients with acute and chronic heart failure.
