Dr. Vedrana Velickovic is a Principal Lecturer in Literature and Doctoral Studies Lead at the University of Brighton's School of Humanities and Social Science. She holds affiliations with the Centre for Applied Philosophy, Politics and Ethics, and the Centre for Transforming Sexuality and Gender. Her academic journey includes a BA in English Language and Literature, an MA in Literature and Modernity (Distinction), and a PhD funded by the ORSAS scholarship. Velickovic has leadership experience as Course Leader for BA English Literature and Academic Lead for Decolonising the Curriculum. She co-founded the student-staff DeCol Collective, focusing on grassroots decolonisation initiatives.

Research Interests: Contemporary literature and culture, with emphases on Black British writing, post-communist/Eastern European narratives, LGBTQIA+ studies, migration, and decolonising pedagogy. Her 2019 monograph examines Eastern European migration in British literature, while recent work focuses on anti-racist and queer community partnerships.
Projects: Co-organiser of the Coast is Queer LGBTQIA+ literature festival, and lead on AHRC-funded initiatives like the 'Anti-Racist Kids Project' and 'Reading to Resist'. Collaborates on EU-Horizon-funded CAPONEU project on political novels in Europe.

Advising & Grants: Supervises PhD projects on topics like Black publishers, diasporic feminism, and gender-based violence. Leads funded projects addressing anti-racist education and queer intergenerational dialogue.
