Vasyl Savchenko

Vasyl Savchenko is a Ukrainian interdisciplinary artist and educator based in Gdańsk, Poland. He currently serves as an Assistant Professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk, teaching in the Department of Graphic Arts within the Faculty of Graphic Arts. His work spans drawing, painting, printmaking, and design.

• Education: Master's in Graphic and Media Art (Wrocław Academy, 2018), Master's in Monumental Painting (Lviv National Academy, 2017), and formal training at Lviv College of Decorative and Applied Art.
• Research: Explores post-digital printmaking, focusing on etching/lithography and the intersection of analog techniques with digital phenomena.
• Creative output: Works with charcoal, natural pigments, and mixed media, often addressing themes of identity, body memory, and spiritual dreams.

His 2024-2025 solo exhibition Ground of Things in Chicago and recent commissions like Amber River reflect his focus on large-scale visual narratives. Artworks demonstrate a progression from traditional techniques toward contemporary interdisciplinary approaches, including publications and poetic collaborations.

As co-founder of the Savchenko Foundation, he manages the Savchenko Gallery in Gdańsk. His international presence includes residencies in Turkey, USA, and Ukraine, with works held in prestigious collections like Columbia College Chicago and Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts.
