Prof. Vassilis Charissis is a Professor of Creative Technologies at Edinburgh Napier University and previously held a Professorship in Human-Computer Interaction at Glasgow Caledonian University. He holds a BSc from Athens University of Applied Sciences, an MPhil, and a PhD from the University of Glasgow. His research focuses on Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), and their applications in healthcare, automotive systems, and medical training. He has developed advanced VR medical simulators for dialysis training and driving simulators for automotive safety. His work includes two patents in biomimetic automotive engineering and international design awards from FIAT and Opel competitions. He leads research groups like the Virtual Reality and Simulation Laboratory (VRS Lab) and the Emerging Interaction Technologies (EIT) group. Notable achievements include the 2020 Computation Best Paper Award and collaborative projects with NHS, QinetiQ, and Thales.
