Varga Gabriella

Dr. Varga Gabriella is a Senior Research Fellow at the Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences' Institute for Viticulture and Enology (Research Station Kecskemét). With over 20 years in agricultural research, her career includes positions at NARIC, Corvinus University of Budapest, and the Hungarian Academy of Sciences.

Education:

• PhD in Plant Science, Szent István University (2007)
• MSc in Genetics and Plant Breeding, Szent István University (2002)

Research Focus: Her work centers on plant defense mechanisms against pathogens, especially PAMP-triggered immunity in tobacco and grapevine. She conducts clonal selection of grapevine cultivars, evaluates vine/table grape varieties, and manages conservation of genetic resources in ex situ gene banks. Her technical expertise spans molecular biology techniques and plant transformation technologies.

International Training: Specialized professional development includes grapevine biotechnology programs in Germany (Julius Kühn Institut), Italy (University of Verona), and Georgia (SRCA).
