Vanthida Huang

Vanthida Huang is a Professor at Midwestern University, holding appointments across multiple colleges including the College of Pharmacy-Glendale Campus, College of Graduate Studies, and College of Veterinary Medicine. She serves in the Department of Pharmacy Practice and has been with Midwestern University since June 2014.

Her educational background includes a Pharm.D. from Temple University School of Pharmacy (2001) and a B.Pharm. from the same institution (1994). She completed a Postgraduate Year 1 (PGY-1) Pharmacy Practice residency at Sarasota Memorial Hospital (2001-2002) followed by a Postdoctoral Fellowship at Wayne State University/Detroit Receiving Hospital in the Anti-Infective Research Laboratory (2002-2004).

Dr. Huang's research primarily focuses on Infectious Diseases and the Treatment and suppression of multidrug-resistant bacteria. Her work spans antimicrobial resistance, pharmacotherapy of serious infections, antibiotic stewardship, and pharmacokinetics/pharmacodynamics of antimicrobial agents. She has made significant contributions to understanding MRSA infections, vancomycin therapy, and treatment of carbapenem-resistant organisms.

Analysis of her most recent publications reveals a strong focus on antimicrobial resistance, particularly methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae (CRE).
