Vanessa Valero is a Professor in Business Analytics and Decision Science at IMT-BS, affiliated with the Division of Data Analytics, Economics and Finance. She holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Montpellier I (2011) and has held academic positions at the University of Leicester (Associate Professor), Loughborough University (Assistant Professor), and postdoctoral research positions at the University of Zurich, ETH Zurich, and the European University Institute.
Her research primarily focuses on behavioral and experimental economics, utilizing experimental methods to study moral/prosocial behavior in markets and the influence of fairness perceptions on redistribution demands. Previously, she researched contract theory applications in procurement and regulation. Current interests include business analytics and decision science frameworks.
In professional service roles, she serves as Associate Editor for Frontiers in Behavioral Economics (2022–present) and Deputy Director of the Behavioural and Economic Sciences Research Cluster at IMT-BS (2023–present). She regularly referees for leading economics journals including the American Economic Review and Journal of Public Economics.
