Vanessa Stassi is an architectural-urban researcher and lecturer at the Special School of Architecture in Paris, specializing in urban atmospheres and sensory dimensions of city spaces. Her academic work is deeply connected to the CRESSON laboratory (UMR AAU 1563 CNRS ECN ENSAG ENSAN) where she completed her doctoral research under Jean-Paul Thibaud's supervision.
Her research focuses on urban micro-resonances and the operational aspects of atmospheres in urban environments, particularly through her extensive work on Paris' Petite Ceinture project (2015-2018). Stassi develops embedded research methodologies that emphasize physical and sensitive perceptions of urban spaces, arguing for their potential in regenerative urban metamorphosis.
Recent publications show consistent development of her research trajectory since 2020, with increasing sophistication in analyzing urban sensory experiences. Her 2025 publication on Circular Urban Metabolism demonstrates application of her theoretical framework to sustainable urban design challenges.
As an educator, she leads the 'In the Heart of Cities' workshop at the Special School of Architecture, training students to identify atmospheric qualities in urban environments as potentials for regeneration.
Stassi works through collaborative networks involving architectural practices, urban planning agencies, and ecological associations, applying her research on sensory dimensions to practical urban development challenges while maintaining her academic research connections with the CRESSON laboratory.
