Dr. Vanessa M. Holden is an Associate Professor of History at the University of Kentucky, affiliated with the College of Arts & Sciences. She serves as Director of the African American and Africana Studies Program and the Central Kentucky Slavery Initiative. Her research focuses on African American women’s experiences in antebellum slavery, gender history, and the history of resistance and sexuality. She teaches courses in American, African American History, and African American Studies.
