Vanessa Hassouna is a Researcher at the University of Bremen, focusing on robotics and artificial intelligence. Her work centers on developing generalized, context-aware robotic actions for dynamic environments like household tasks, utilizing scene graphs and symbolic reasoning to enhance autonomy. She actively contributes to the RoboCup@Home technical committee and collaborates on projects such as EASE and Virtual Research Building (VRB).
- Research Focus: Autonomous task planning, scene understanding, and knowledge representation for robotics
- Teaching Roles: Co-supervisor for bachelor and master projects in the SUTURO robotics lab (WS19/20–SS25), co-lecturer for Robot Programming with Lisp (WS21/22)
- Collaborations: Works with Prof. Michael Beetz and colleagues on scalable algorithms for real-world robotics
Her publications address challenges in robotic manipulation, mixing tasks, and human-robot interaction. She mentors students in projects exploring failure handling, parameterization of robot plans, and underdetermined action descriptions.
