Vanessa Grossman

Vanessa Grossman is a Brazilian architect and architectural historian affiliated with the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETH Zurich) as a postdoctoral researcher starting in 2019-2020. She graduated from the University of São Paulo and Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, and holds a PhD from Princeton University.

Her academic focus spans Architecture, Urban Planning, and the intersection of Environmental Design with Technological Development, particularly through her curatorial work on the XII International Architecture Biennale of São Paulo. This event explores architecture’s role in addressing global challenges via everyday life, emphasizing Urban Maintenance and sustainable practices.

As a curator, Grossman investigates how quotidian routines, banal objects, and basic resource use redefine architectural ethics and aesthetics in an over-designed world. Her work bridges theoretical inquiry with spatial interventions across multiple scales, from interiors to planetary systems.
