Her research spans sociological approaches to translation, children's literature in global contexts, taboo topics in translation, bibliomigrancy/transnationalism, Swedish literature's international reception (particularly in USA/UK), cultural transfer from peripheral regions, and ecocritical translation. Key areas include the French reception of Swedish youth novels featuring unprovoked violence, the role of translation prizes like ALMA in cross-cultural recognition, and the impact of media adaptations on literary translation.
Valérie supervises bachelor's and master's theses and collaborates on method seminars with Ulf Norberg. Her publications database at Stockholm University reveals sustained engagement with French-Swedish translation dynamics, African children's literature's entry into Sweden through French intermediation, and the evolution of violent adolescent characters in translated works.
