Valida Tvrtković Akšamija

Valida Tvrtković Akšamija is an Associate Professor at the Department of Music Theory and Pedagogy, Academy of Music, University of Sarajevo. She serves as Prodean for Teaching and Student Affairs and has taught courses in Methodology of Music Teaching for over two decades.

• PhD in Musicology (Music Pedagogy) from the University of Sarajevo (2014)
• Masters in Music Education (2008)
• Diploma in Music Theory and Pedagogy (2002)

Her research focuses on music pedagogy, teaching methodology, inclusive education, and lifelong learning. She has contributed to teacher training frameworks and explored innovations in music education for diverse populations. Recent publications emphasize interdisciplinary approaches and inclusive practices in music education.

She has participated in numerous symposiums and seminars across Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region. She led the TEMPUS project on accessibility for students with special needs (2013) and completed professional development grants in Canada and Bosnia. She currently chairs the Center for Music Education and serves on editorial boards and international councils like ICTM National Committee of BiH.
