Assoc. Prof. Dr. Valeska Huber is an Associate Professor at the Institute of Contemporary History at the University of Vienna and co-spokesperson of the research focus on Global History. She previously led the Emmy Noether Research Group on Communication and Global Orders at the Free University of Berlin (2017–2022) and held positions at institutions including the German Historical Institute London, LSE, Harvard, and Cambridge. Her research integrates international/global history with microhistorical methods, focusing on spatial/social borders, mobility/migration, epidemic governance, and information access. Current projects examine universal literacy campaigns' role in 20th-century information accessibility.
Education and Academic Path: Huber has held visiting roles at LSE, Cambridge, Harvard, and Konstanz. Her academic trajectory includes fellowships at the German Historical Institute London (2011–2016) and leadership in the Emmy Noether Programme (2017–2022).
