Dr. Valeriya Vitkova is a Senior Lecturer in Corporate Finance at Bayes Business School, City, University of London. She also serves as Director of Client Research at the M&A Research Centre (MARC). Her academic and professional work focuses on mergers and acquisitions, corporate restructuring, equity carve-outs, dividend policy, ESG integration, and gender diversity in dealmaking. She has taught corporate restructuring and M&A topics at undergraduate and postgraduate levels and presented research at international conferences including the Financial Engineering and Banking Society Annual Meeting and European Financial Management Association meetings.

Her research examines allocative efficiency of internal capital markets through equity carve-outs, ESG performance in M&A, and gender diversity’s impact on deal leaks. She has published in journals like the Journal of Business Finance and Accounting and European Journal of Finance, as well as practitioner reports for SS&C Intralinks and PwC. Recent work investigates carbon liability risk and AI applications in ESG-driven deals.
Her consultancy projects span M&A deal leak analysis, acquisition performance, and gender diversity impacts, including studies for Intralinks and Cambridge Innovation Consulting. She has collaborated with co-authors like Sudi Sudarsanam and Siyang Tian on topics ranging from hedge fund activism to distressed M&A outcomes.
