Valerio Marino-Dep is a Temporary Assistant Professor (Ricercatore a tempo determinato in tenure-track) at the University of Verona, affiliated with the Biological Chemistry Section. His research focuses on experimental and computational studies of calcium-sensing proteins in phototransduction, molecular mechanisms of retinal dystrophies caused by mutations, and nanodevice development for gene/protein therapy. He also investigates environmental impacts of heavy metals and genetic predisposition in retinal degeneration.
Research expertise spans biochemistry, biophysics, and computational biology, supported by ERC sectors LS2_11 (Bioinformatics), LS1_9 (Molecular Signaling), and LS1_13 (Drug Design). Collaborative projects include 'Heavy Metals and Retinal Degeneration: Genes or Environment?' led by Prof. Daniele Dell'Orco.
