Valerie Young is Associate Professor of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at Ohio University's Russ College. Her research investigates atmospheric chemical processes with focus areas in pollution analysis, emission characterization, and combustion byproducts. Recent studies examine photolytic decomposition pathways using infrared spectroscopy and wildland fire smoke impacts on wildlife.
Publications combine experimental and modeling approaches to trace pollutant formation and transport. Current work includes UV photolysis mechanisms of halogenated compounds and atmospheric reactivity measurements.
