Dr. Valerie Nwadeyi serves as a Nuclear Science Researcher and Co-Director of the Center for Energy and Environmental Solutions (CEES) at South Carolina State University within the College of Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics & Transportation. She joined the university in 2024, leveraging her prior expertise from Savannah River National Laboratory in nuclear material control and accountability, radiation waste management, and radiation health safety.
Her educational credentials include:
- BS in Nuclear Engineering from South Carolina State University
- MS and PhD in Nuclear Engineering and Radiological Sciences from the University of Michigan
Dr. Nwadeyi's research program centers on radiation detection, imaging, and simulation with specialization in CdZnTe semiconductor detectors, list-mode data analysis, and advanced imaging algorithms. Her work bridges fundamental nuclear engineering principles with practical applications in environmental safety and energy solutions, emphasizing detector technology innovation and data processing methodologies for radiation monitoring systems.
As Co-Director of CEES, she leads strategic initiatives addressing energy sustainability and environmental protection through nuclear science applications, focusing on translating research into real-world environmental management practices.
