Prof. Valeria Mondelli is a Clinical Professor of Psychoneuroimmunology at King’s College London’s Institute of Psychiatry Psychology and Neuroscience (IoPPN), and an Honorary Liaison Consultant Psychiatrist at King’s College Hospital. Her work bridges physical and mental health, focusing on biological stress-response mechanisms in psychiatric disorders. She co-led the global IDEA project to develop early depression risk scores in adolescents. She is co-lead of the NIHR SLaM BRC’s Psychosis and Mood Disorders theme and Associate Editor of Brain, Behavior, and Immunity.

Research interests center on biomarker-based personalized interventions and immunometabolic depression. Awards include the Emerging Leaders in Adolescent Mental Health Prize and BAP Senior Clinical Psychopharmacology Award. She leads projects on neuroinflammation quantification, psychosis stratification, and depression treatment based on inflammatory biomarkers. Active in global mental health initiatives and cross-disciplinary collaborations.
Grants include Wellcome Trust funding for ASPIRE and STEP projects. Labs/teams include the Stress, Psychiatry & Immunology Laboratory and collaborations on the Kynurenine Pathway in Mental Health.
