Valeria Braccini

Valeria Braccini is a Senior Researcher at the Institute for Superconductors, Oxides and Other Innovative Materials and Devices (SPIN) under the Italian National Research Council (CNR). She earned her PhD in Physics (2003) and Laurea in Physics (1999) from the University of Genova, focusing on superconducting materials.

Her research interests center on superconducting materials for high-field applications, particularly MgB₂, Fe(Se,Te), and REBCO coated conductors. She specializes in thin film deposition via Pulsed Laser Ablation, flux pinning mechanisms, and transport property characterization in high magnetic fields.

The 15 most recent articles highlight her work on Fe(Se,Te) thin films for low-cost coated conductors, proton irradiation effects on critical currents, buffer layer engineering, and vortex dynamics in layered superconductors. Her publications span journals like IEEE Transactions on Applied Superconductivity, Superconductor Science and Technology, and Scientific Reports.

Braccini holds leadership roles in national and international projects, including PI for the PRIN 2022TZ8R7C project on grain boundary investigation in high-Tc wires and coordination of CNR-SPIN units in collaborations with Eni SpA and CERN's FCC study. She serves on editorial boards, program committees, and has organized key conferences like the Applied Superconductivity Conference (ASC) and European Conference on Applied Superconductivity (EUCAS).
