Vahid Emamian is a Professor in the Department of Engineering Education at St. Mary's University, Texas. He earned his Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Minnesota (2003), with prior degrees in Electrical Engineering from Sharif University of Technology (BS 1995, MS 1997). At St. Mary’s, he founded the Control and Data Acquisition Lab (2006) and co-founded the Wireless Security (WiSe) Lab (2009), securing over $500,000 in grants from agencies like DURIP and industry partners such as Agilent Technology. In 2019, he received a $268,000 DURIP grant for AI-driven health monitoring research.
His research spans Wireless Security, Biomedical Signal Processing, and Machine Learning, with a focus on applying deep learning to cardiac diagnostics, pandemic-era wireless security, and cybersecurity.
