Uwe M. Borghoff

Prof. Uwe M. Borghoff is a full professor of Computer Science at the Universität der Bundeswehr München, within the Institute of Software Technology. He holds a diploma and doctoral degree from TU Munich, and completed his habilitation in 1993. Previously, he worked at Xerox Research Centre Europe as a Senior Scientist and group leader. He has served as Dean of the Faculty of Computer Science (2002–2004) and currently is Vice-President of the University since 2004.

His research focuses on information management, digital preservation, distributed systems, and knowledge management, with contributions to AI applications like neural networks in games. He has authored/co-authored books on digital preservation and distributed systems, including *Long Term Preservation of Digital Documents* (2006) and *Computer-Supported Cooperative Work* (2000).

Borghoff has supervised numerous students, including PhD, Master’s, and Bachelor’s theses across AI, neural networks, and software development. His patents span cross-lingual information retrieval and AI-driven assistive devices. He has held leadership roles in academic and industry initiatives, such as the Münchner Knowledge Management Kreis and Siemens’ Wissensmanagement projects.
