Uwe Bettig

Professor Uwe Bettig is a distinguished academic at ASH Berlin (Alice Salomon University of Applied Sciences Berlin), where he serves as Professor for Management and Business in health and social institutions. His academic journey includes significant leadership roles, having served as Rector of ASH Berlin from 2014-2018 and as Dean of Department II - Health, Education and Care from 2022-2025. He is also the co-editor and Editor-in-Chief of the Management Handbook for Nursing since 2010.

Prof. Bettig's research interests span health economics, business administration, quality controlling in stationary elderly care, new healthcare provision models, and gamified methods for social innovations. His work focuses on practical applications in healthcare management, particularly in geriatric care, digital health technologies, and competency management. He leads several significant research projects including the Game-SI project developing gamified methods to promote social innovations in healthcare, and the ASHEXIST initiative supporting entrepreneurship in the SAGE sector.

His publication record demonstrates expertise in nursing management, digital health technologies, and healthcare economics, with recent publications in 2025 addressing contemporary challenges in healthcare systems. Prof. Bettig has made substantial contributions to understanding the economic aspects of nursing management and the implementation challenges of digital technologies in healthcare settings.

Among his notable professional activities, Prof. Bettig chairs HoGe e.V. (Cooperation Association of Universities for Health) since 2016 and served as Chairman of FoBeG e.V. from 2018-2024. He is also a member of the Lower Saxony Mediation Board since 2024.
