Prof. Dr. Utz Dornberger is Vice Dean of the Faculty of Economics at Leipzig University, where he serves as Professor for Development Economics with a focus on small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). He directs the International SEPT Competence Center and leads the university's startup initiative SMILE (Self-Management Initiative Leipzig). Additionally, he founded the global iN4iN (intelligence for innovation) network for university-business collaboration in technology transfer.
Education:
- Biology studies at Friedrich-Schiller University Jena, University of the Basque Country, and University Paris du Nord (1990–1995)
- MBA in Small Business Studies at Leipzig University (2000)
- PhD in Natural Sciences at Friedrich-Schiller University Jena (1996–1999)
His research emphasizes innovation management in SMEs, entrepreneurship promotion, and internationalization processes of companies. He has been involved in German-Vietnamese collaborations since 2000, including projects for the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2025.
