Ute Ziegler is a Lecturer at the Institute of Interior Architecture at Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts (Lucerne School of Engineering and Architecture). She holds a Magistra Artium in Art History and has extensive professional experience in architecture and furniture design. Currently, her research focuses on multi-sensory design as a health resource, integrating design with medicine and neuroscience. She is pursuing a PhD on 'Multi-Sensory Design as a Health Resource' at Braunschweig University of Art.
Her research interests span design and health, system theory, participatory processes, and therapeutic environments. Notable projects include 'Cool Down', 'CeilHeal - Therapeutic System Ceiling', and 'Design Science for the Optimization of Patient Pathways'. She has contributed to over 20 publications, including peer-reviewed articles and book chapters on healthcare design and stress regulation in clinical settings.
Ziegler has received the 2014 Transfer Award for applying interdisciplinary research to medical practice. She is a member of the Society for Applied Psychology in Architecture and Oncology and the German Society for Design Research. Her work bridges architecture, healthcare, and neuroscience, emphasizing evidence-based design interventions.
