Ute Schmid

Ute Schmid is a full professor of Cognitive Systems at the University of Bamberg, Germany, where she directs the Bamberg Center of AI (BaCAI) and serves on the board of directors of the Bavarian Research Institute for Digital Transformation (bidt). Her leadership extends to promoting gender equality in computer science and public AI education through extensive outreach initiatives.

Her research centers on cognitive AI, with specialized focus on interpretable machine learning, inductive programming, and interactive knowledge-informed systems. She applies these methodologies to solve critical challenges in education, healthcare, and manufacturing, emphasizing human-AI collaboration and transparent decision-making processes.
