معرفی
Prof. Dr. Ute Kraus serves as Professor of Physics and its Didactics at the Institute of Physics, University of Hildesheim, where she has been employed since November 2008. She holds leadership positions including Head of the Institute of Physics and serves on multiple academic committees including the Standing Committee for Quality Management for Teaching and Studies in Faculty 4, Faculty Council FB 4, and Standing Senate Commission for Teaching.
Her academic credentials include:
- 1986: Master's degree in physics, University of Grenoble
- 1989: Diploma in Physics, University of Tübingen
- 1992: Doctorate in Physics, University of Tübingen
- 2003: Habilitation in Theoretical Physics, University of Tübingen
Prof. Kraus maintains dual research specializations in astrophysics (focusing on observational theory of cosmic X-ray sources and binary X-ray pulsars) and physics education (specializing in didactics of relativity theory and relativistic visualizations). Her work bridges complex theoretical astrophysics with innovative educational approaches, making relativity concepts accessible through visualization techniques. She has significantly contributed to astronomy education methodology and teacher training programs.
Her notable scientific recognition includes:
- Scholarship from the Academic Foundation (1983-1989)
- Doctoral scholarship from the German Academic Scholarship Foundation (1990-1992)
- Postdoctoral fellowship from the DFG (1994-1995)
- Finalist at the Medida-Prix (2007)
- Johannes Kepler Prize of the MNU Association (2008)
Prof. Kraus maintains active administrative roles across multiple university governance bodies, focusing on curriculum development, quality assurance, and educational standards for physics programs. Her office is located in Room F 206 of Building F on the Main Campus, with consultation hours held on Tuesdays from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
