Uta Pottgiesser

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Uta Pottgiesser is a faculty member at the Detmold School of Design, part of the Ostwestfalen-Lippe University of Applied Sciences. Her teaching and research focus on Building Construction and Building Materials within the Interior Design programs.

Research Interests include:

• Sustainable design strategies for shipbuilding (e.g., MeyerWerft: The Sustainable Cabin project)
• Preservation and adaptive reuse of industrial heritage structures
• Material innovation for circular economy in construction
• Barrier-free and culturally inclusive interior design

Her team collaborates with institutions like the Institute for Design Strategies (IDS), Docomomo Germany, and the European Facade Network. She supervises Bachelor's and Master's theses on topics ranging from residential conversions of bunkers to bicycle hostels in historic buildings.
