Prof. Urszula Mirecka is a distinguished Polish professor at the Faculty of Philology, Maria Curie-Skłodowska University (UMCS), Lublin. With habilitation in linguistics and dual master's degrees in Polish philology and psychology, she has led postgraduate speech therapy studies and conducted groundbreaking research on communication disorders.
- Education: MA in Polish Philology (UMCS, 1978), MA in Psychology (Jagiellonian University, 1986), PhD in Linguistics (UMCS, 2004), habilitation in Linguistics (UMCS, 2014).
Her research focuses on dysarthria (speech motor disorder in cerebral palsy), graphomotor disorders, and developmental communication impairments. She developed diagnostic tools like the Scale of Graphomotor Skills Assessment (2017, 2023) and Dysarthria Scale (2006). Her work bridges clinical linguistics, developmental psychology, and speech therapy.
Key publication trends include experimental studies on speech intelligibility in dysarthria, graphomotor development in children, and cross-linguistic analyses of writing disorders. She has authored/co-authored over 100 scholarly works.
