Ursula Wingate is a Professor of Language Education at King's College London, affiliated with the School of Education, Communication & Society and the Centre for Language, Discourse & Communication (LDC). She leads the Forum for Academic Language and Literacy (FALL) and teaches on programs including the BA English Language & Linguistics, MA Applied Linguistics & English Language Teaching, and MA TESOL. Her research focuses on academic literacy instruction, language policies, and genre-based teaching methods, emphasizing inclusive approaches that bridge disciplinary expertise. She has held editorial roles for the Language Learning Journal and reviews for multiple journals.
Her work explores collaborative curriculum integration of literacy support, dialogic teaching methods in writing tutorials, and the intersection of English Medium Instruction (EMI) with English for Academic Purposes (EAP). Key contributions include studies on nursing students' academic writing, formative feedback impacts, and challenges in secondary language education. She has been Principal Investigator on projects like 'Academic transitions of diverse students' and 'Academic writing instruction frameworks'.
