Professor Ursula F. Ott is a full-time faculty member at Nottingham Business School, Nottingham Trent University, where she serves as Director of the Centre for International Business Strategy and Decisions (CIBSD). She holds a PhD in Economics and Social Sciences (magna cum laude) from the University of Vienna and has held academic positions at Loughborough University, London School of Economics, and University of Vienna. As Vice President for Webinars on the Academy of International Business Research Methods SIG Board, she leads global research methodology initiatives.
Her research explores:
- Strategic decision-making in international organizations
- Cross-cultural negotiation dynamics
- Cultural adaptation and migration models
- Application of game theory and configurational analysis (QCA)
- Experimental designs in international business contexts
Awards & Recognition:

- Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA)
Research Funding: Secured grants from British Academy, Leverhulme Trust, EPSRC, and Austrian Science Fund totaling multiple projects on geopolitical narratives, cultural adaptation, and international joint ventures. She has supervised PhD graduates now in academia/industry and serves as external examiner for University of Bath, LSE, and University of Liverpool.
As Director of CIBSD, she leads research on global business strategy while consulting for international organizations and governments on negotiation frameworks. Her work has been presented at Cambridge, Oxford, LSE, and the House of Lords.
