Dr. Ursula Clayton is an Assistant Professor (Teaching-focussed) in Early Modern and Shakespeare Studies at the University of Warwick, affiliated with the Department of English and Comparative Literary Studies. Her work bridges literary analysis with community-led research initiatives.
- Scientific Awards: Warwick Award for Teaching Excellence (2021), Butterworth Award (2021), WIHEA Fellow (2022).
Research focuses on parasitic figures in Shakespearean and early modern drama, intersecting with socio-political and philosophical discourses. Additionally, she champions inclusive pedagogy through refugee education projects, including a Coventry-specific assessment of barriers to higher education access and a pilot 'Access to HE' program for refugees/asylum seekers (launching March 2025).
She teaches courses such as EN121 Medieval to Renaissance English Literature and EN2L6/EN3L2 Shakespeare and Early Modern Dramatists, while maintaining office hours for student engagement.
