Uroš Savković

Dr. Uroš Savković serves as a Senior Research Associate at the Department of Evolutionary Biology within the Institute for Biological Research "Siniša Stanković", part of the University of Belgrade.

His research focuses on experimental evolution, particularly studying how seed beetle (Acanthoscelides obtectus) populations respond to environmental changes when shifting from optimal to suboptimal plant hosts. His work examines biochemical, ethological, morphological, and life history trait differences, with special emphasis on phenotypic plasticity and population growth parameters.

Dr. Savković completed his undergraduate studies at the Faculty of Biology, University of Belgrade in 2010 and earned his PhD in Evolutionary Biology from the same institution in 2016. Since beginning his career, he has worked continuously at the Institute for Biological Research "Siniša Stanković".

Currently, he leads the "Experimental evolution approach in developing insect pest control methods ELEVATE" project (number 7683961, 2022-2025) under the Idea Program of the Science Fund of the Republic of Serbia.

His professional activities include:

• Member of the European Society for Evolutionary Biology (ESEB)
• Secretary of the Serbian Evolutionary Society
• Organizer of the "Experimental Evolution Training School" at IBISS
• Member of organizing committees for international scientific meetings including "EvoKE 2019"

Dr. Savković has also contributed significantly to science popularization through co-authoring exhibitions such as "From the Domain Cell - Evolution of Life on Earth" (2018) and "Zoobrainology" (2019), as well as numerous installations at the Science Festival.
