Una Chaudhuri

Una Chaudhuri is a Collegiate Professor and Dean for the Humanities at New York University (NYU), holding dual appointments in the College of Arts & Science (Departments of English and Environmental Studies) and the Tisch School of the Arts (Department of Drama). She chairs the NYU Callaway Prize for Drama and Theatre and has been a faculty member since 1982. Her interdisciplinary work bridges theatre studies, environmental humanities, and animal studies, pioneering fields like 'eco-theatre' and 'anthroposcenic art.'

Education: BA/MA (English Literature, Delhi University), PhD (Columbia University, English & Comparative Literature). Key roles include founding faculty at NYU Abu Dhabi and Director of the XE Experimental Humanities initiative.

Research focuses on eco-criticism, animal studies, and performance theory. Notable contributions include theorizing 'zoösis' and 'AnthropoScenes,' exploring multi-species and geo-physical contexts in art. Her books and edited volumes address ecological consciousness and theatrical innovation.
