Dr. Ulrike Nickus is an Assistant Professor and Deputy Head of the Department of Atmospheric and Cryospheric Sciences (ACINN) at the University of Innsbruck. Her research focuses on atmospheric chemistry, alpine permafrost, and seasonal snow cover dynamics. She leads the Atmospheric Physics and Chemistry (APC) group, which operates the Innsbruck Atmospheric Observatory (IAO). Her work integrates field measurements, laboratory analysis (e.g., ion chromatography), and modeling to address climate and environmental challenges.
Key projects include EU-funded initiatives like HARMOSNOW (snow monitoring), NETLAKE (lake observatories), and PERMAQUA (permafrost impacts). She contributes to interdisciplinary networks such as GeoSphere Austria and the Sonnblick Observatory. Her lab offers thesis opportunities in environmental meteorology, air quality, and climate observations.
