معرفی
Prof. Dr. rer. nat. habil. Ulrike Gimsa is a faculty member at the Research Institute for Farm Animal Biology (FBN) since 2006, where she leads the Psychophysiology working group. Concurrently, she holds a Professorship in Immunology at the University of Rostock since 2012. Her research bridges Immunology and Neurobiology, with a focus on stress-induced immunomodulation in farm and model animals.
- Education: M.Sc. in Biophysics (Humboldt University Berlin, 1991), Ph.D. in Cell Biology (1995), D.Sc. (habilitation) in Immunology (Charité Berlin, 2004), Venia Legendi in Immunology (University of Rostock, 2005).
Her scientific work examines:
- Neuro-immune interactions in stress physiology
- Immunomodulation mechanisms in farm animals
- Impact of early-life stress on development
- Methodological advances in immunological and physiological analysis
- Comparative studies of stress responses across species
Recent publications highlight her contributions to understanding:
- Salivary biomarkers (cortisol, oxytocin) in farm animal stress assessment
- Microbiota-gut-brain axis in livestock welfare
- Maternal deprivation effects on neuroendocrine and immune systems
- Stressor impacts on fetal programming and postnatal behavior
- Immune-endocrine crosstalk in dairy cows and salmonids
