Prof. Dr. Ulrich Reininghaus is a Heisenberg Professor and Head of the Department of Public Mental Health at the Central Institute of Mental Health (ZI) in Mannheim, affiliated with the Medical Faculty Mannheim at the University of Heidelberg. His work focuses on translational, transdiagnostic, and interdisciplinary strategies to improve public mental health outcomes. Key research areas include developing digital interventions tailored to patients' everyday needs, understanding social risk architectures in psychiatric disorders, and investigating transdiagnostic psychopathological dimensions in prospective cohorts.
Notable research initiatives include the EU-funded EMIcompass study evaluating mHealth apps for emotional resilience in youth, the BMBF-funded Perpain consortium addressing chronic pain via personalized medicine, and the EU GEI consortium studying gene-environment interactions in schizophrenia. His team also explores integrated etiological models of psychiatric diseases and psychological resilience mechanisms in high-risk populations.
