Prof. Dr. Ulrich Boehm is a Professor of Pharmacology and Toxicology at Saarland University School of Medicine, where he leads the Experimental Pharmacology group at the Center for Molecular Signaling (PZMS) in Homburg, Germany. His research spans molecular neurogenetics and neuroendocrinology with a focus on reproductive biology.
His primary research interests include:
- Neuroendocrinology (kisspeptin, GnRH, prolactin)
- Central nervous control of reproduction
- Puberty and development of neural circuits
- Gonadotropic cells of the pituitary
- TRP channels and calcium signaling
Professor Boehm's recent publications reveal a strong focus on reproductive neuroendocrinology and metabolic regulation. His work connects molecular mechanisms in the brain with systemic physiological outcomes, particularly in reproduction and metabolism. The research demonstrates interdisciplinary approaches combining molecular biology, neuroscience, and endocrinology to address fundamental questions about hormonal regulation.
Professor Boehm currently leads an active research team with multiple members including Debajyoti Das, Qiang Yu, Amanda Wyatt, Oumaima Chargui, Philipp Wartenberg, Vanessa Pulch, Simran Gothwal, and Biplob Saikia. His research is supported by significant funding including TRR 152 P11, TRR 152 Z02, and the GnRH Network.
His laboratory, part of the Center for Molecular Signaling at Saarland University, focuses on molecular mechanisms underlying neuroendocrine regulation with particular emphasis on reproductive biology and metabolic control systems.
