Ulises Moreno-Tabarez

Ulises Moreno-Tabarez is a postdoctoral researcher at CONACYT (Mexican Research Council) within the Humanities and Sustainable Development Management departments at Universidad Autónoma de Guerrero in Mexico. He serves concurrently as a Visiting Fellow in the Department of Methodology at the London School of Economics (LSE). His academic journey includes a PhD in Human Geography and Urban Studies from LSE (2019) and an MA in Rhetoric and Performance Studies from California State University, Los Angeles. His interdisciplinary work bridges critical geography, environmental humanities, and Afro-Indigenous studies.

Research focuses on coastal geographies as sites of racial capitalism's intersection with Afro-Indigenous resilience. His Coastal Commons project (funded by the Urban Studies Foundation) examines how marginalized communities co-create knowledge to resist socio-environmental marginalization. Methodologically, he integrates participatory ethnography and performative research, collaborating with artists/activists to produce visual essays and performance art that challenge dominant narratives.

Recent publications emphasize pluriversal urbanisms, decolonial methodologies, and the spectral dimensions of migration. Key themes include the afterlives of slavery in Mexico's Costa Chica, queer politics in transnational contexts, and global capital's impact on London housing markets.
