Prof. Dr. Ulf Sauerbrey is the holder of the Professorship for Childhood and Youth in Digital Educational Worlds at the Faculty of Education, University of Erfurt. His work focuses on media education, parenting advice media, and Froebelian pedagogy.
- Academic qualifications: Habilitation (2017) and doctorate (2013) in educational science, both from Friedrich Schiller University Jena.
- Current projects: 2025-2026 eTeach projects on immersive media and social virtual reality in teacher training; DFG network on transnational history of attachment theory.
Research interests center on digital educational media, advice media reception, and historical educational theories. He analyzes how media shapes parenting practices, childhood experiences, and pedagogical frameworks, particularly through advice books, YouTube content, and virtual reality tools.
His scientific contributions include key publications on educational plans, attachment parenting, and media optimization of childhood. He has advised on 15+ completed and ongoing dissertations, including topics like AI-driven online risks and pandemic parenting challenges.
