Professor Ulf Klein is a Professor of Immunology and Haemato-oncology at the University of Leeds, leading the Molecular Haematology group within the Leeds Institute of Medical Research (LIMR) at St. James's. He holds academic affiliations with the School of Medicine and the Faculty of Medicine and Health.
Education: Earned a Diploma in Biology from the University of Cologne (1993) and a PhD in Immunology (1998), followed by postdoctoral research at Columbia University supported by EMBO and HFSP fellowships. He served as Assistant and later Associate Professor at Columbia before joining Leeds in 2017.
Research focuses on oncogenic mechanisms in B-cell and plasma cell malignancies, aiming to identify therapeutic targets for precision medicine in hematological cancers. Key areas include understanding B-cell differentiation disruptions leading to lymphomas and multiple myeloma.
Professional memberships include the American Society of Hematology, American Association of Immunologists, and British Society for Immunology. Teaches in the MSc Molecular Medicine program and supervises PhD students. His work aligns with research groups such as Cancer Immunity and Inflammation.
