Ugur Kale

Ugur Kale is an Associate Professor in the Department of Learning, Design, and Adult Education at Indiana University's School of Education. He serves as a faculty member of the Instructional Systems Technology program where he conducts research and teaches courses related to educational technology and computational thinking.

Professor Kale's research focuses on examining the urgent issues that emerging technologies bring to computational thinking, online learning, and teacher education. He develops learning interventions that bridge instructional design and computer science to improve learning for all students. His work has significant implications for how educators integrate technology in classrooms.

Currently, Professor Kale leads an NSF-funded project focused on helping preservice teachers integrate computational thinking in their teaching practices. This initiative represents his commitment to preparing future educators with the skills needed for technology-rich classrooms across various subject areas.

Professor Kale teaches courses in multimedia learning, computational thinking, technology integration, instructional design, and educational psychology. His international background (originally from Turkey, came to USA in 2000) informs his perspective on educational technology and teacher preparation. He is actively involved in mentoring students interested in educational technology research and applications.
