Ugo Montanari

Ugo Montanari is a Full Professor of Computer Science at the University of Pisa since 1976. Previously, he worked as a Researcher at the IEI Institute of the Italian National Research Council in Pisa from 1971-1976.

Research Interests: His scholarly work spans multiple areas in theoretical computer science, focusing on

• formal semantics of concurrent systems
• process algebras and description languages
• constraint programming methodologies
• graph rewriting formalisms
• coordination models for distributed computation
• algebraic and categorical approaches to concurrency
• network-aware programming paradigms
• service-oriented computing architectures

Scientific Recognition: Montanari has received significant honors including

• Ordine del Cherubino (1995)
• Grande Ufficiale title from the Italian President (2006)
• Ultimo Novecento-Pisa 2000 nel mondo international prize (2004)
• Membership in Gruppo 2003 for being among the most cited ISI authors
